Sealing solutions for parcel lockers and smart lockers
Parcel lockers and smart lockers operate both outdoors and in high-traffic indoor areas. They are exposed to moisture, dust, temperature fluctuations, UV radiation, and mechanical stress. Loss of sealing in doors or enclosures can lead to electronic damage, reduced device lifespan, and compromised safety.

MAE TECH offers automated solutions for applying gaskets and adhesive systems to parcel locker and smart locker housings and doors. The FIPFG (Foam-in-Place Gasket) technology enables the creation of seamless gasket contours directly on the product, ensuring precise geometry, reliable IP-rated protection, and minimal human factor influence. Our systems work with polyurethane foams, MS polymers, and silicones resistant to moisture, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations. When necessary, surface pretreatment is applied — including plasma activation or primer coating. Servo-driven precision dispensers ensure stable parameters and an aesthetically uniform bead, even on complex geometries.
Parcel locker and smart locker doors can be opened and closed repeatedly while maintaining complete sealing integrity.
Thanks to their excellent recovery capability, the cellular structure of the polyurethane gasket maintains its elasticity even after many years (tested in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1856). This allows for repeated opening and closing of service flaps and HVAC unit doors during maintenance while maintaining stable sealing performance.
Automation reduces failures and maintenance costs, increases the durability and reliability of devices, and ensures compliance with the requirements of logistics system manufacturers. MAE TECH solutions are easily integrated into production lines and can be scaled for different types of parcel lockers and smart lockers.

Criterion | Rubber Gasket | Polyurethane Foam (FIPFG) |
| Sealing | Joints and gaps – risk of leaks | Seamless contour – high sealing IP54–IP66 |
| Durability | Cracks and loses elasticity over time | Retains properties for decades |
| Resistance to temperature fluctuations and humidity | Prone to shifting and damage | Stable elasticity and shape from −30…+70 °C |
| Design flexibility | Limited to standard profiles | Any contour based on CAD model |
| Appearance | Visible joints and irregularities | Aesthetic, uniform bead |
| Logistics | Need to stock multiple sizes | Applied directly on product – no inventory |
| Production process | Manual cutting and gluing | Automation and repeatability |
| Waste | High — offcuts and adjustments | Practically eliminated |
| Cost of ownership | Cheaper initially but costly in use | Fast payback through labor and material savings |
| IP standards | Hard to guarantee at joints | Easy to achieve high IP ratings |
